Repairing of a PRASA railway embankment in Hatfield, Pretoria

This job was particularly difficult as the work needed to be done whilst the railway lines were in operation. All work had to be done by hand, as there is no access for machines. All staff had to undergo medicals and an induction course. Full OSH safety standards were applicable. The job was handled by 2 teams consisting of a foreman and 20 labourers each.

Total length of embankment: 161 m

Total amount of steel placed: 17 tonnes

Total amount of concrete placed:  508 m3
